Gardner, swallow meeting tuesday 17/4/18

I made a six hour round trip to Andy's pub, for today's meeting, which took one and a half hours. Below find two statements from the two of us. After my post below, I will not post on this subject again, I have repaired the crack that had Westham fan vs Westham fan having a go at each other. For me it stops now. We both put our cards on the table and mistakes have been made, We both agreed to build bridges. Our strength was always our unity and we must try and get that back and go on together. For me it's time to forgive and forget and move on. What can we gain by being split? We are all different and must learn to get on.

A statement from Andy Swallow.:

It's clear the time has come for our supporters to unite once again behind our team. The current in-fighting between fans has to stop. We've all got our own opinions of what the current board need to do for the good of our club. There's also a lot of fans who want rid of the board full stop. I understand that, and I've got to respect other supporter's views.

I entered this because, like all of us, I love West Ham United. It's my life, and the last thing I'd want to do- or envisaged happening- was to cause the division among us as it obviously has. It was never my, nor the Real West Ham Fans Action Group's intention, to create the current climate among our supporters. In the cold light of day however, I think that perhaps mistakes were made, and that these mistakes have hurt, angered and caused distrust among supporters. I therefore apologise unreservedly for the effect this has unwittingly had, in the hope this goes some way to bringing us together once more. There's been a lot of allegations made about me. Some of it has been water off a duck's back, some of it has hurt to the bone.

I can genuinely say I have never taken a penny from the club, be it a 'bung' or otherwise. People are entitled to their opinion, and I can't stop that. It hurts, but I'll take it on the chin for the best of OUR Club. It's time for us to take a leaf out of Bill's book and become united once more. When West Ham fans are truly United, there's no-one, anywhere, who can touch us. I sincerely hope we can achieve that, and move forward together to achieve the best for West Ham UNITED.

Believe me we will never be a big club with gold Sullivan and co running our club,after 60 years home and awayi will only be doing away games till the vermin are out of our club,i truly hate them more than millwall.and you all no my views on them.god bless westham united and its great fans.

More Saturday games is a massive plus of relegation.
So is the prospect of Sullivan in his silly hat surrounded by empty seats and his big gold dream in smithereens
In all honesty I would be just as up for a first home game against Leeds next season as I would against Watford or any host of current EPL clubs.

You realise that I have never said it would be a good thing to go down, right? I only said that it's not a case of zero positives. I repeatedly say I'd rather stay up, but I will be aware of the positives if it happens.

Personally, I can't see relegation as necessarily a disaster, as I fear the disaster has already happened, regardless of relegation.

Anyone that thinks relegation wouldn't be nothing but disaster is Kidding themselves.

I swear there are people on this site who honestly think if we get relegated it will force the owners to sell, we will get super rich new owners who love West Ham, we will come straight back up, get a decent manager in who will play the "West Ham Way" and everything will smell of roses.

Reality is we won't find anyone decent to buy the club (Look at Newcastle) we will sell Arnie, Lanzini & Rice and we will struggle to reach the play offs in front of an half empty stadium. They will probably close the top tiers to save money.

I've been talking about the positives of relegation, should it happen, this season or next. The main positive is the thousands of tourists on the waiting list will melt away like snowflakes in a blast furnace. At the moment, the board's attitude is "If you don't like it, go away, as we have loads who will take your place."

If we go down, all they will have left is the loyal fans they have been ignoring so long. What then if they decide to stay away?

I would rather stay up, but there are certainly plus points to going down.

I think you are a bum of the stinkiest proportions but you are 100% correct, It's all about the money honey. Sadly West ham fans are pretty soft when it comes to waking up, they love their club too much to quit it for a few months.
How the fuck they get 50 000 gates with the shit they dish out football wise is ridiculous, it's almost like we are trying to prove we are a great club by the ammount of fans we can get in .

Exactly Lily. And I find it baffling how there are West Ham fans - including a few on this forum - who are belittling the idea of protests and marches and questioning the point.

This is how situations build and gain traction. People have different criticisms and opinions on aspects of how the club is being badly run, but one way or another everything comes back to the stadium. It was the reason they bought the club in the first place and it is at the heart of the raised expectations, it defines money spent on the team and is the main reason for tempers boiling over within the fan base. It will be the reason that we eventually get bought at a considerable profit.

If this momentum drops then you watch the club start to ease back in with the "world class, UEFA category four" bollocks again to give themselves an easier and cheaper ride.

The only way we improve the situation is by continuing to grow this issue until it's causing enough friction that it's too big and persistent to ignore.

Whilst they are selling 52k season tickets, they will give no fucks.

Unfortunately the only way to push them to do something is to force the business case for improvements.

So, stop buying STs.

It’s the ONLY way to drive change and as it will never happen en masse as a protest nothing will change.

Everyone needs to be as boring as me and keep going on about distance from the pitch.

Nearly everybody, including those who say the ground "isn't that bad," would agree that it would be better if we were up close, and nobody should be allowed to deny that we were promised to be up close.

The other thing an apparently sensible proposal from Khan would do would re-invigorate the protest movement.
